Mobile App Security
Mobile App Security Testing in Zimbabwe
The app is often the easiest way into the backend
Apps ship with API keys inside them, store tokens where other apps can read them, and call backend APIs that trust whatever the app sends. Anyone can download your app and take it apart.
On device storage
What the app saves on the phone, and whether tokens, personal data or keys can be read from it.
Backend and APIs
The APIs the app calls, tested for broken permissions and data exposure, often the real weak point.
Network security
Whether traffic is properly encrypted and the app can be fooled into talking to an attacker.
Reverse engineering risk
What an attacker learns by unpacking the app: hidden endpoints, keys and debug features left in.
How we work
01
Scope
We agree the app builds, platforms and backend in scope, and you sign a written authorisation.
02
Unpack
The app is examined for stored data, embedded keys and hidden endpoints.
03
Test
The app and its APIs are tested against the OWASP mobile standard.
04
Report
Findings ranked by risk with clear fixes, then a call with your developers.
What you get
- Written authorisation and an agreed scope before any testing
- Android and iOS app testing, as agreed in the scope
- Backend API testing for the endpoints the app uses
- On device storage and network traffic checks
- A written report with findings ranked by risk, each with a fix
- A walk through call with your developers

Quoted
Priced after scoping, based on the platforms, the size of the app and its backend. Work starts once the commitment fee in the quote is paid.
Before you approve it
The engagement, in facts.
- Typical timeline
- Agreed at scoping
- Report
- Within 3 working days of testing ending, findings ranked by risk with a fix for each
- Retest
- Free retest of fixed findings within 30 days
- Standards
- OWASP, PTES, NIST SP 800-115 and CVSS
- Confidentiality
- We sign your NDA before scoping, on request
Questions, answered
Android, iOS or both?
Either or both. Many businesses start with Android, which most customers in Zimbabwe use, and add iOS later. The scope says which.
Which standard do you follow?
The OWASP Mobile Application Security Verification Standard (MASVS) and its testing guide, plus API testing for the backend the app uses.
Do you need the source code?
No. Testing works on the built app you would publish. Source access makes it faster and deeper, and can be added under NDA.
Will testing affect our live users?
Tests run against a test build and a staging backend where possible. Anything that could touch live data is agreed with you first.
